Maria Lina Tornesello is Head of the Molecular Biology and Viral Oncology Unit at the Istituto Nazionale Tumori IRCCS Fondazione G. Pascale, napoli, Italy. She graduated with honors in Biological Sciences from the University of Naples Federico II and obtained her specialization in Microbiology and Virology at the same University. She conducted research at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, USA, where she further developed her expertise in molecular oncology and virology. Her scientific contributions have significantly advanced the understanding of viral oncogenesis. Her research is primarily focused on the molecular mechanisms underlying virus-associated cancers, with particular emphasis on human papillomaviruses, molecular biomarkers, and the development of innovative strategies for cancer diagnosis and precision medicine in virus-related malignancies.
She is the author of more than 200 publications indexed in Scopus, is a member of several national and international scientific societies, Editor of the journal Infectious Agents and Cancer, and a reviewer for leading international scientific journals and research funding agencies. According to Scopus, her bibliometric profile includes an H-index of 50 and more than 7,500 citations.
