From the PNRR Extended Partnership INF-ACT to the Italian Network on Arthropod Vectors and Vector-Borne Diseases
The integrated approach promoted by the INF-ACT project continues at the XXXIV National Congress of the Italian Society of Parasitology (SOIPA), currently taking place in Bologna. The conference programme features a symposium entitled “From Research Node 2 of the PNRR INF-ACT Project to the Italian Network of Arthropod Vectors and Vector-Borne Diseases".
The symposium represents the natural continuation of activities launched over the past few years within the INF-ACT project, which established a close collaboration with SOIPA (the Italian Society of Parasitology) to study infectious and parasitic diseases through an integrated One Health approach, promoting the health of humans, animals, and the environment. This continuity is also reflected in the people involved. The Bologna event is chaired by Alessandra Della Torre, Full Professor at Sapienza University of Rome, who previously led INF-ACT Research Node 2, dedicated to arthropod vectors and vector-borne pathogens.
Federico Forneris, President of the INF-ACT Foundation: “The work carried out over the past few years through the INF-ACT Foundation had the primary objective of strengthening ties within Italy’s scientific communities by identifying common ground and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations. Today, we are witnessing the natural transition of one of the PNRR project’s research nodes into a multidisciplinary network that will continue to meet, collaborate, and operate in a cohesive and coordinated manner in the years ahead. Seeing this work continue even after the conclusion of PNRR funding demonstrates that what we have built rests on solid foundations.”
