OMAVIR Training Day
23/09/2026 | Sardegna Ricerche Research Park
The OMAVIR Training Day – Application of Omics Sciences to Antiviral Research, dedicated to the application of omics sciences to antiviral research and the development of innovative strategies for diagnostics, surveillance, and the identification of novel therapeutic targets, will take place on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, at Sardegna Ricerche Research Park (Santa Margherita di Pula, Cagliari), in conjunction with the 8th Innovative Approaches for Antiviral Agents Summer School (IAAASS), scheduled from 21 to 25 September 2026.
The OMAVIR Training Day is aimed at early-career researchers and professionals from biomedical, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical companies who are interested in exploring the potential of omics approaches in the study of viral infections. Through expert lectures and hands-on activities, the initiative seeks to provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to understand virus-induced alterations in cellular systems, integrate multi-omics data using bioinformatics and artificial intelligence tools, and identify biomarkers, pathways, and therapeutic targets relevant to the development of innovative antiviral strategies.
The event represents the first training activity of the ACT4TRAIN project, coordinated by the INF-ACT Foundation and the University of Cagliari, and funded through the PN RIC 2021–2027 investment programme (DD 307 "3 Actions"). It will also provide an opportunity to introduce the ACT4TRAIN ACADEMY, an advanced training programme focused on innovative diagnostic approaches and technologies for communicable and non-communicable diseases. The Academy, launching in autumn 2026, aims to bridge the gap between research and clinical application while fostering multidisciplinary collaboration between academia and the private and industrial sectors.
We believe that the OMAVIR event will provide an important opportunity for scientific and technological updating for companies operating in the biomedical, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical sectors, while also promoting dialogue and collaboration between academia and industry in support of innovation for health.
Participation in the OMAVIR Training Day (23 September 2026) is free of charge, but registration is mandatory via the “ REGISTRATION FORM” by 14 September 2026. Participants may attend either in person (limited to 20 places) or remotely.
