MARE
Monitoring and Analysis Research Ecosystem
Budget: € 18,126,700
The expertise of Fondazione INF-ACT and e.INS SCARL come together to strengthen national research capacities in health, technology and data governance, giving rise to the MARE Project (MI2615).
The two "MARE" actions:
Action 1.1.2 - DOMARE
The application of the One Health paradigm to biomedicine requires predictive and digital approaches to integrate health, environmental, and socioeconomic data. This is further driven by the growing technological need to facilitate monitoring activities, control the spread of potentially dangerous species, and develop molecules with translational potential. DOMARE (Development of Monitoring and Analysis Research Ecosystem) addresses these needs through a structured programme designed to leverage the pool of expertise developed within the two projects and to maximise their key applied contributions in response to the needs of biomedicine from a One Health perspective.
In DOMARE, we will focus our activities on:
- Cybersecurity in biomedicine
- Pharmacogenetics of the Sardinian population
- One Health Data Intelligence and Data Integration
- Parasite monitoring and control at critical entry sites like ports and airports
- Drug discovery, design, and preclinical development, with a focus on small molecules
- Advanced cell therapies, antimicrobial biomaterials, and drug delivery
DOMARE therefore represents a plan to strengthen national research capabilities in innovative digital and laboratory technologies serving biomedicine within a One Health framework, aligning with the SNSI (National Smart Specialization Strategy), the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan), and European priorities.
Action 1.1.3b - PLASMARE
Healthcare and environmental challenges, exacerbated by climate change and zoonotic pathogens, demand predictive models and integrated digital solutions. The One Health approach, promoted by WHO, FAO, WOAH, and the EU, combines health, veterinary, environmental, and socioeconomic data. This necessitates strategic vision, investments in multidisciplinary technologies, and shared infrastructures.
The main goal of PLASMARE is to systematize and make available to the national and international scientific community the most advanced technologies and expertise. We'll offer a portfolio of advanced services in the form of technological value chains for:
- Digital data management with a One Health perspective.
- Epidemiological and parasitological monitoring.
- The development of innovative therapeutic solutions.
Access to the technology value chains will be facilitated by a digital portal presenting the available infrastructures and an access system designed to ensure effective matchmaking between needs and technologies. A roadshow visiting multiple locations will provide an opportunity to showcase the potential of the technology value chains and discuss possible partnerships.
Under the joint guidance of the INF-ACT Foundation and e.INS scarl, Hubs of their respective PNRR-MUR initiatives, PLASMARE will therefore provide cutting-edge technologies that will drive innovation in biomedicine in the less developed regions of Southern Italy.
